This virtual war gives the opportunity to fly 17 types of aircraft: Storch,Shiden, Walther P38, Yak 1,Henschel, Macchi C.205 Veltro, Dornier Do 335, Focke-Wulf Fw.189 Uhu,Stuka, Zero, Messerschmitt Bf.110F, F4U1, Dordo17Z, P47, BF109,Messerschmitt Me.262, and Horten Ho229. Every single machine has its own power characteristics. Every mission is about hitting the enemy and stay intact yourself. The control system is particularly well done in this game: any possible maneuver can be performed using virtual joystick. You speed up making a vertical swipe to the right side of the display and you fire with the arrow keys in the bottom right corner. Some gamers complain about the absence of a radar to spot the approaching menace, therefore you have to go around in circles till you're very very dizzy. Well, in truth, in 1942 you didn't have any radars, so the developers are simply trying to be authentic, but if you want to see the coming threat in advance you can successfully use the back view mirror.
